Legal Aid

We have public funding contracts for some of the areas of law we practise. This means the cost of your case may be wholly or partly paid for from public funds. If legal aid is available to you, we will do our best to help you secure it.

Your solicitor will explain the application process and provide the documentation required to obtain public funding from the Legal Aid Agency.

If you think you may be eligible for legal aid, you can complete the Legal aid checker below.

If we do not hold a legal aid contract for your case, but you are eligible for legal aid, we can charge a much reduced private fee. For more information please call us.

Paying Privately

A number of our clients pay us directly for the advice we provide. We understand that the expense of obtaining legal advice may be one of the main reasons people are deterred from seeking help.

At John Ford Solicitors we will assess your needs and advise you from the start of the likely costs of your case. We will keep you regularly updated and we have a number of options for making payments. In some cases, instalment plans can also be arranged.

Legal Expenses Insurance

You may have a household or other insurance policy that will cover legal costs. We therefore advise clients to check the wording of their existing policies to establish whether this may be an option before we progress. Insurance may cover some or all of the costs in your case.

We know that every client has different financial circumstances and we will do everything we can to ensure you receive the best value legal advice possible.
